End of an Era

Today was the estate sale for my gram's farm. It was done by auction and there was lots of farm equipment so therefore, there were LOTS of people that showed. I had to park half a mile down the road in front of the place where we used to live. This is all that's left of it. Kinda makes me laugh, since we said it should have been burned down YEARS ago, but it never was. This happened by accident :) Burned brush a little too close to what was left. oopsThe family hired an auction company to come out and sell everything. Great guys, funny too :) Miserable day for an auction though. It rained almost the entire morning. We were standing in puddles by noon! Some of the vast array of stuff that was in the house. Toys, puzzles, glassware, plates, and on and on... Gram made it so that EVERYTHING had to be sold. If you wanted it, you had to pay for it. No one was handed anything. I was actually able to get this barn. But it doesn't "moo" like it's supposed, kinda bummed about that. The one crappy thing about auctioning everything off is that a lot of the stuff that should have gone together, didn't. There were animals with the barn, but they got sold early on in the auction in a plastic bag, this was later, with a box of junk :)

This is an awesome bank that I remember playing with when I was little. Don't know how much it went for, probably not a lot. I used to drive this tractor when I was a kid. This is where you started when you worked in the field bailing hay, driving. After you got big enough to lift bales, you weren't allowed to drive anymore, you were forced to do hard labor :) I miss living on a farm. Hopefully some day, I'll be able to live on one again.

Oh, this post makes me miss my grandparent's farm so much! They still live there, but I don't make it out to see them nearly enough. They used to have a tractor just like that that I'd ride on with my grandpa.
