Trick or treat...

"Trick or treat smell my feet, give me something good to eat:)" Luckily Abby didn't actually say that to anyone, although we did make sure she knew the entire phrase:) She got pretty good at saying "trick or treat" and Thank you!!! At first she had to be reminded, but about the 5th house, she had it down.
This would be Sean and Abby sorting the candy. The girl cracks me up, cause she only likes candy without nuts. So Milky Way, 3 Musketeers, ring pops, suckers are all okay. Sean and I got the Baby Ruths, Kit kat, and Butterfinger. Abby's mom got the Snickers and Twix, we all came away happy:)
I missed most of the pile in this picture but it was quite a stack!

I got Tagged

6 Facts you say......hhhhhmmmmmmm. What could I tell you that would not make me seem like the complete freak that I am, but that nobody knows about?

1. I can't go to sleep if I have socks on. I HAVE to have bare feet. Sean makes fun of me and then gets annoyed at me when I try to warm them up on him:)

2. I actually like my calculus class, and using my brain. I have had many of my friends tell me I'm a nerd, uh, well, yeah, I guess that would fit.

3. I'm going back to school for Environmental Engineering. Hence, the calc class. This will make Master's degree #2. Wish I had gotten it right the first time.

4. Sewing is relaxing to me. A great stress relief, except when I leave projects 'til the last minute and they have to be done NOW! Currently I'm working on a pair of pants that I hope will actually fit.

5. I'm a neurotic driver. Well, I'm not sure if neurotic is the right word, maybe picky is a better one. I'm constantly on Sean for driving in the left lane when he isn't passing anyone or driving too fast, or..or..or.. a long list of many other things. I figure there are basic things that should be taught in every driver's ed class, that A LOT of people missed. common courtesy would be one, and how to merge into traffic would be another:) okay, off my soapbox for now.

6. Volleyball is my favorite sport to watch on TV. I like playing bball, so I hate to watch it, baseball is too boring!! At the game or on TV. And football, well, it's football:) I like it, but eh, I can live without it. Sean, however, does not have my fascination with volleyball and I don't get to watch it often, and the networks don't broadcast it nearly enough!

The 6 people I am tagging are.... hmm this is going to be hard since most of you have already done this. I'll have to think about this awhile.

Yard work

I really like fall, except for the whole concept of "falling" leaves! Cause I have to rake them. Well, I don't "have" to rake them, but it gets me outside and I get excercise. This would be the before picture: This is the after. I made 5 huge piles of leaves. I would have jumped in them, but since they were in the front yard, I didn't want to embarrass myself, so I refrained. You will notice that this tree is naked, completely. This is also the same tree that was full of red leaves at the beginning of the week, that I posted earlier. Doesn't take long, does it?!

Daddy's girl

Abby is quite the daddy's girl. Here she is working on her Leap Pad with Sean's help.
Abby was not feeling well tonight. She had a high fever and a really sore throat. Sean wanted to see what her tonsils looked like and this is how he did it:) Gotta love how guys do things.

Ooooh, how pretty!

I went for a lovely walk around the park today. Mostly to see the leaves, partly cause I haven't gotten and real exercise in the past week. I figured a 5 mile walk would do for now. The crappy part about the walk was that there were very few areas that the trees looked awesome. This was one place, but it happened to be right in our driveway! Pretty, eh. But of course 'Burgh weather isn't nice to the scenery. At the park about 1/4 of the trees were already naked from the wind and rain that we have had over the past week. 1/4 of them are confused and think it's still summer cause it has been over 70, still, and they are still green. 1/4 of them are actually pretty, most are yellow, but there are some awesome reds and oranges. And the last 1/4 are pine trees, yes, evergreens that are always ugly:) So now you know what my walk around the park looked like today.
When I got back home I tried to capture the cool colors and feel of our back porch. Needless to say, this picture doesn't even come close!! Nicole, can you come be my photographer?! Or just tell me what kind of camera you use, cause mine sucks. Anyway. Our deck/porch (whatever you call it) is totally shaded and the leaves are awesome. I was sitting out there for lunch and noticed that it was kind of yellow because the light coming through the trees was bouncing of the red and yellow leaves. Really cool lighting. Like I said, I wish I could have captured it, so ya'll could see it. O well. I have to agree with Hobbes, from the cartoon I posted earlier, it looks like fireworks and I love watching it happen.

More pumkin guts

Alright!! The blog finally let me post some more pictures:) This would be Sabrina with her gloves on, not wanting to get any pumpkin guts on her! Funniest thing was that I was trying to sweep all the leaves off the porch while they were busy at work. While I was making sure they had the inseides cleaned out well enough, they started using my broom to play with. So guess what I ended up with all over the handle, yes, pumpkin guts. Yuck! Sabrina busy cutting out the face of her pumpkin. She managed to break one of the saws while she was working cause she was trying to turn it and cut at the same time. Didn't work too well. Here are the finished products. Abby cut a little too far and instead of a smiling pumpkin with fangs, she got a screaming one. Hers is on the left and Sabrinas is on the right.
This is mine. As you can see, it's too far down on the pumpkin, cause I was not paying attention. I was not happy once it was finished and I realized it was not in the right place. O well, typical Trixie, something is always a little off:)

Pumpkin carvin'

Fun stuff goin' on here!! The girls have been bugging to carve their pumpkins for weeks. I got the pumpkins the first week in October, but because it was so blasted hot around here, we couldn't carve them or they'd rot REALLY fast. So to preserve the pumpkins we waited......and waited, and waited. Anyway. It has finally been cool enough that we could carve without fear of decay:)
As much as Sabrina loves carving, she hates cleaning out the pumpkin on order to carve it. Ha. I have great pictures of her cleaning the pumpkin, I'll have to post them later, the blog is giving me trouble and won't let me load them. :( Just because Sabrina doesn't like the gook, doesn't mean Abby's not game! Abby has no problem getting her hands yucky and cleaning out the seeds. I can't help thinking about "The Great Pumpkin" at a time like this. Especially the part where Lucy is carving her pumpkin and Linus is watching in agony, cause she is "killing" the pumpkin. I love that part.
While the girls where cutting the faces on the pumpkins they were pretending that they were doing surgery and the pumpkins has to anethesia, and the pumpkins were complaining because the girls were cutting them. HA, I had to laugh. I'll post the pictures of the pumpkins and Sabrina cleaning hers out when the blog gets over its issues:)

Halloween Treats

Abby and I were bored and decided to make a Rice Krispy haunted house. It looked way better in the picture. I guess I should have done all the special choclate molding stuff. Eh, too much bother:) Abyy was a great help, She decorated most of it, and made sure that all the windows had frames. The bad part of the whole rice krispy treat thing is that it is that much more sugar that is available for me to eat. I'm trying to cut out sugar and it's not working very well. Leah, how did you ever do it?!

Canning, again

I finally got around to canning the applesauce that I made from the apples that I picked 3 weeks ago with Abby. yummy, yummy. It took me 2 days to get the applesauce made, because I have actually been busy subbing. imagine that:) This would be stage one. I hate peeling apples. Abby helped me with about 2 apples:) She doesn't have the hang of it yet.
After I got everything peeled, cored, and cooked down, I got 6 whole quarts of applesauce. I might have had a little more if I wouldnt' have burned a bunch to the bottom of the pan. You should see the pan, I don't think the stuff is ever going to come off. ugh. Now I need to make some apple butter with the ones that are left. Yes, after 6 quarts of applesauce there are still apples left. And I plan on getting some more, MacIntosh make the best pies and apple butter, so I have to get them. somewhere, cheap!

Not your usual fun on the farm

Reilly's Summerseat Farm had a lot more than just a cool hayride out to the pumpkin patch. They had all kinds of games for the kids to play, and stuff to do. Here is Abby going down this long slide, head first. Not too dangerous, cause it wasn't really steep. They had a cute little petting zoo. By the time we got there the poor animals had been fed to the "gills." Most of them weren't even hungry. The kids all had a hard time trying to get the animals to eat out of the cups that the worker gave them.
Sean, "The calf whisperer"
They also had this awesome "go cart" racing circle. It was peddle bikes in the form of go carts. Funny stuff. It was a little dry, so you can see the amount of dust that was kicked up from these things, and there were only 6 going at a time.
The funniest thing there was the "milking contest." 2 kids sat across from each other and "milked" the cow. There was a bucket in the middle that had this white colored water in it and 4 plastic tubes that the kids squeezed.
The kids had fun and we laughed watching them.

Happy Birthday Abby!

Abby's birthday is on Wednesday, but due to everyone's crazy schedule we celebrated today. We went to a pumpkin farm close to home. I didn't even realize it was here. Everyone had a great time. This is Abby and her friend Lexy running through the pumpkin patch, trying to find the "perfect" pumpkin. This would be the pumpkin that was perfect, but Abby couldn't hold it, so she dropped it. And ran on to find another "perfect" pumpkin.
Success! This would be the finalist that actually made it all the way to the trunk!

The imagination of kids:)

Would you believe this is a robot?! I had to take a picture of this because the girls are always putting stuff together as "something." The water bottles were an army that was fighting Barbie's, but I'm not sure what they are doing now. I get in trouble when I put the bottles in the recycling bin, cause "those are our army!"

The actual wall

I jumped the gun a little when I said the wall was actually done. This is actually the finished product. Sean had a friend help him to finish it up. Looks pretty good, eh?! His next project is now the yard and it's grasslessness (yes, I made that word up).

Evidence: Exhibits A & B

The fact that it was 80 degrees yesterday and that it's supposed to be 85 today, would indicate that it is still summer in the Burgh. But I have found more evidence to the contrary. Exhibit A: Black cat next to pumpkins, would be a definite indication that Halloween is around that corner. And the last time I checked, Halloween was a definite fall type thing. By tonight the pumpkins will even be carved, further evidence of fall.
Exhibit B: Lots of leaves in the front yard that need raked. The sad part is, the tree hasn't even lost half of it's leaves yet, which means there is lots more work to come. This doesn't include all the trees in the back yard that have lots of leaves that haven't even started falling, either. I think this calls for a man. "Oooooh, Se-an"....

Cat on drugs

This is our catThis is our cat on drugs.
Any questions?
Sean wanted to see what would happen when he held catnip up to Einstein's nose. Einstein went nuts, it was too funny, he started biting and kicking, then tried to get Sean to let go fo the bag so he could have it all. Sean had to put the catnip away:)

My Fave comic

You're going to have to click on this to read it, I didn't realize it would be so small. It's one of my favorite comics, and I thought I'd share with all of you since the season is about to get into full swing. I have to agree with Hobbes' opinion on this one, poor Calvin:)
